PET Dropper Bottles

Dropper bottles are great because they ensure that you get an accurate amount of liquid each time you use it. This article discusses two types of dropper bottles. Here are some differences and similarities between a graduated dropper bottle and a PET dropper bottle.

What Are Graduated Dropper Bottles?

Graduated dropper bottles are small vials that are used to store various liquids. One of the distinct features of these bottles is that they come with a dropper that is screwed on as a lid. These droppers are calibrated at different volumes ranging from 0.25ml to1.0ml.  You may also find graduated dropper bottles with pipettes that can carry greater volume at one time.

Graduated dropper bottles are often used for administering medication. Medication must always be taken in carefully calculated doses because an overdose can do more harm than good. Therefore, these calibrated droppers allow patients and healthcare professionals to administer correct doses of medication.

What Are PET Dropper Bottles?

PET dropper bottles are similar to graduated dropper bottles, except they’re made of a different material– Polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is a type of clear and recyclable plastic. These bottles are also used for packaging purposes. They are commonly used for packaging cannabis-infused oils and tinctures, beard oils, food coloring, vape oils, essential oils, fragrances, and many more.

Graduated Dropper Bottles Are Glass and PET Bottles are Plastic

The major difference between graduated dropper bottles and PET dropper bottles is that they are made from different materials. The former is made of glass and usually contains child-proof caps. This is because these bottles are generally used for cannabis-infused oils and tinctures. Glass is a good material for cannabis products because it’s not a sticky surface. This means that there will be less wastage as a result.

While on the other hand, PET dropper bottles are made of a specific kind of plastic called Polyethylene terephthalate (PET). One of the great things about this type of plastic is that it is recyclable. So, you can use it for other purposes after the product finishes. Thus, purchasing a product that is packaged in PET plastic is definitely a greener option. PET is also not a sticky surface, making it a good packaging product.

Graduated Dropper Bottles Are Calibrated and Most PET Bottles Are Not

One difference between graduated dropper bottles and PET dropper bottles is that the former has a calibrated dropper. A calibrated dropper can allow for better accuracy because you won’t have to rely on the estimation that twenty drops are equivalent to 1ml of liquid. You can pipette the exact amount in the dropper and then release all of it at once. You don’t have to be worried about accidentally adding more drops than you need.

A calibrated dropper can also save you time because you don’t have to count each droplet when you’re using the dropper. Whereas on an uncalibrated dropper, you’ll have to be conscious of the number of drops you’re adding because that’s the only way to measure how much you’re adding. This process may take long, and it can be a bit tedious when you have to add large amounts of liquid.

One way to make your measurements more accurate when using an uncalibrated dropper is to empty out the contents into a teaspoon. If you need a quarter of a teaspoon, make sure to add each drop slowly. If you add the drops quickly, you may add more than you need, which may result in you having to throw the extraneous amount. You can use an online measurement converter to estimate how many milliliters one teaspoon contains on average. Using a teaspoon can also speed up the extraction and measurement process. This is because you won’t have to count each individual drop.

However, even though many PET dropper bottles don’t have calibrated droppers, there are some that do. If you’re someone who takes accurate measurements seriously, you should look for bottles with calibrated pipettes.

PET Bottles Are Lightweight and Less Fragile

One of the biggest advantages PET dropper bottles have over graduated dropper bottles is that they’re less fragile than their glass counterpart. This can make it easier to transport PET dropper bottles, and you won’t have to worry about it falling and breaking either.

In addition to this, PET bottles are also much lighter than glass bottles. This means that you can carry it in your purse without much of a difference in its weight either.

Both Bottles Are Used for Packaging Cannabis-Infused Liquids

While there are differences between the types of dropper bottles, there are similarities as well. Both graduated dropper bottles and PET dropper bottles are used for packaging cannabis-infused tinctures and oils. The droppers make it easier for users to extract and consume the liquid. Pouring liquid from a small bottle can be difficult, so a dropper definitely helps.

This allows users to make accurate measurements when consuming it directly or when adding it to their foods. However, you will get better accuracy with graduated dropper bottles. That said, that much accuracy may not be necessary except when you’re consuming medical marijuana. These bottles are usually dark in color as opposed to being transparent. The dark color of the glass reduces the amount of light entering the bottle. Excessive light can damage cannabis, making it less effective in the process.

Both Bottles Have Similar Capacities

Both PET dropper bottles graduated dropper bottles come in various sizes. Most of the bottles used for cannabis-infused oils and tinctures have a capacity of 0.5oz to 1.0oz (1.0oz is roughly 30ml). Whereas, you’ll be able to find a 60ml PET bottle with relative ease. There are also some dropper bottles that have a capacity of 100ml. While the larger bottles may not be used in packaging cannabis-infused oils and tinctures, they can be used for various other packaging purposes.

It’s important that manufacturers use the best available types of packaging out there. That way, the product will stay safe and consumers can use it with ease.
