Who will take the lead in House of Cards' final season?

The chief content officer for Netflix told the audience at UBS's Global Media and Communications Conference in NY on Monday that season 6 of the streaming giant's landmark show will happen.

The streaming service claimed it had nothing to do with the news surrounding Spacey, but the timing proved to be even more convenient when, days later, the actor was hit with multiple more assault and harassment allegations, this time leading the streaming network to fire him entirely.

Sarandos also said at the conference that the final season will be eight episodes long.

Production on the sixth, and final, season of House Of Cards was postponed when the first allegations against Spacey were published.

Last month, Netflix stopped production of House of Cards' sixth season and severed its relationship with Spacey after several people - including Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp - accused the Oscar victor of sexual misconduct. In the Michael Dobbs book that inspired the Netflix series, Frank's character dies.

Ireland, Apple Agree To Put $15B In Escrow For Tax Dispute
However, Dublin as well as Apple continue to contest the European Commission's ruling. Starting next year, will have to start paying Ireland back billions of back taxes.

It's not clear how Spacey's Frank Underwood will be written out, but all signs point to the character suffering an off screen death. The final season was originally supposed to run 13 episodes. He said, "I wish them all the very best on House of Cards Season 6". Production on the House of Cards set had been shut down ever since, as Media Rights Capital investigated the situation.

On Nov. 26, Media Rights Capital announced that it had extended its production hiatus for another two weeks until December 8.

Additionally, director Ridley Scott also removed the actor from his upcoming film "All the Money in the World", with Christopher Plummer.

House of Cards was Netflix's first original series order.
