Georgia, Alabama make four-team playoff

Selection Sunday, will Alabama make the college football playoffs?

Alabama and Ohio State would have gotten a chance to settle it on the field, and none of the Power 5 conference champs would have been left out.

The football playoffs will begin Monday, Jan. 1 with Oklahoma (12-1) playing Georgia (12-1) in the Rose Bowl at 4 p.m. and Clemson (12-1) playing Alabama (11-1) in the Sugar Bowl at 7:45 p.m.

The NCAA selection committee voted in Alabama, with an 11-1 record, over Ohio State, with an 11-2 record.

Oklahoma, Georgia and Clemson all won their respective championship games on Saturday.

For the first time in the short history of the College Football Playoff, there are two teams from one conference among the final four.

Alabama and Clemson have collided in each of the past two national title games, splitting those matchups, while Georgia and Oklahoma have never met.

The stage is set for another loaded College Football Playoff. And it was a pretty significant loss at that.

Ohio State* didn't make the College Football Playoff, and the Buckeyes' loss to 7-5 Iowa is why they won't play for a national championship.

It was a point Saban made during his Saturday night politicking on ESPN.

Move forward and get around people you care about - your family and teammates". 3 Florida State (6-6), which has seemingly fallen off the national map after losing its starting quarterback, Deondre Francois, for the season in the fourth quarter against the Tide.

"Everybody kind of forgets about that game. I think our efforts to play more conference games, to schedule up to a reasonable degree, to reduce the number of mismatches should serve us well".
