Google launches 'Datally' app for Android users to save mobile data

Google's mobile data-saving app has moved out of beta and renamed to Datally

Google is very interested in helping you access the internet, but with limited data inclusions for mobile, sometimes that means restricting apps from getting it, so they launched Datally. Next is the Data Saver bubble to block background data usage and track real-time data usage and block them with a tap if they are using too much data. There are some data related applications out there which help users take control but Google is really in the right place to take hold of the situation. While unlimited data is making a comeback in the USA, there are still a lot of people on tiered data plans, and many other people around the world have even more limited data plans.

The app is now globally available on the Google Play Store for all phones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and higher, Google said. This is not all it also provides a directory of WIFI networks in your nearby area and enables commentary on the quality by users as well. With the new app, users can monitor their phone's data usage on an hourly, weekly, or monthly basis and even get recommendations for how to save data.

You can get Google Map directions to the Wi-Fi source and rate connections to help others make better decisions.

Bungie announces free trial for Destiny 2, starts tomorrow
You can download the game on console via PlayStation Store or Xbox One Digital games store, or via Blizzard on PC. This prodded online reports from players who thought something was up, and Bungie has since posted a statement.

Now, just besides each app, you also see a "lock" icon, which basically indicates that background data usage has been blocked.

Datally has been in testing in the Philippines for most of 2017 and, according to Lolu Bodunwa - Associate Product Marketing Manager (Search) for Google in Sub-Saharan Africa - people testing the app saved up to 30% of their mobile data. And because the app is straightforward, it is easy for everyone to understand. And what's worse, it's hard to figure out where it all goes.

Google isn't finished with the app yet either advising that new features including Balance checking and balance expiration reminders as well as Proactive data usage warnings and controls will be tested in selected markets. Keeping the storage management in mind, Datally is as tiny as 6MB.
