The tri-state will be hit with a numbingly cold blast of Arctic air starting Friday, sending temperatures plummeting into record-low territory in and around the city, Storm Team 4 says.

In Newark, where the record-low was set in 1956 when the mercury dipped to 25 degrees, temperatures were recorded as low as 24 degrees overnight as the wind chill made it feel in the teens, according to the National Weather Service.

Boston isn't the only part of the country experiencing cold, according to the weather service.

A warmup to more typical November weather is expected.

The deep freeze hit the Big Apple Friday night as the temperature bottomed out at a record-low 26 degrees.

Palace boss Hodgson opens up on links to Jack Wilshere
I work with Dougie Freedman and we talk about potential players, and Jack Wilshere's name has never been mentioned in this room. Southgate said his decision to omit Wilshere was because he didn't think the 25-year-old was being used in his best position.

It brought cold rain, some snowflakes and warnings for this morning's commuters to keep an eye out for black ice on bridges and overpasses.

Temperatures climb during the day Saturday but will remain well below-normal under mostly sunny skies, forecasts show. The glacial temperatures Saturday morning are set to shatter a Central Park record set 84 years ago.

The service forecast a slight warming Saturday with highs in the low- to mid-40s before dropping into the 20s again over Saturday night.

Buffalo's average high temperature is 50 degrees on Saturday's date and 49 degrees on Sunday. In Philadelphia, the record of 21 degrees still appears to have gone unbroken.
