Bomb Kills Pakistani Troops Seeking Captors of Freed Western Family

Pakistan official details car chase that freed kidnapped US-Canadian family

Pakistan's military said the family were rescued after entering Pakistan from Afghanistan, but two Taliban sources with knowledge of the family's captivity said they had been kept in Pakistan in recent years. The boy appeared happy and healthy, digging in the grass as his father showed off the different plants and later spoke on a cellphone.

Ms Coleman, from Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, was pregnant at the time and gave birth to four children but Mr Boyle revealed extremists killed another daughter and raped his wife.

The couple and their children were rescued in a dramatic operation orchestrated by the US and Pakistani governments, officials said Thursday.

After their recovery, the family of five were to go by plane to Afghanistan's Bagram air base, but Boyle declined to board the plane.

"A firefight (breaks) out, that all five captors had been killed by the Pakistani army, and all five of our Boyles are safe and OK".

"Canada has been actively engaged on Mr. Boyle's case at all levels, and we will continue to support him and his family now that they have returned". Their three children were born during their time in captivity. They were freed during a rescue operation involving Pakistani forces last week and arrived back in Canada on Friday.

"The five of them (were) in the back of a vehicle being transferred and a auto being stopped, surrounded by, Josh described, 35 Pakistani army officials", Patrick Boyle said.

Patriots, Jets, playing for AFC East lead
The team rallied and finished the game strong, earning a 24-17 win behind a controversial call by the officials against the Jets . In the receiving end, Brandin Cooks posted 85 yards in five receptions while Danny Amendola added 77 yards in eight catches.

"You could say that it was partially scripted but I was fine with doing it", he said.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nafees Zakaria, said the rescue raid was based on a tip from US intelligence and shows that Pakistan will act against a "common enemy" when Washington shares information. It unfolded quickly and included what some described as a shootout and a unsafe raid.

The Canadian, his wife and their children were intercepted by Pakistani forces while being transported in the back of their captors' auto.

US officials did not confirm those details. The army recovered the hostages safely from the auto. The family was seated in business class next to U.S. State Department officials. Khadr, who allegedly threw a grenade that killed an American medic, was 15 when he was taken prisoner.

The US official said there were some questions surrounding Boyle's past, but the Department of Justice said he did not face arrest.

They include Kevin King, 60, a teacher at the American University of Afghanistan in Kabul who was abducted in August 2016, and Paul Overby, an author in his 70s who disappeared in eastern Afghanistan in 2014.
