Clinton weighs in on Weinstein sexual harassment allegations

Hillary Clinton at UC Davis: Climate change a factor in Northern California wildfires

Democrats quickly began facing pressure to return their donations from Weinstein.

When asked if Clinton thought Trump is the most risky president ever, the former Secretary of State replied, "I think he is, because he is impulsive, he lacks self-control, he is totally consumed by how he is viewed and what people think of him, he is vindictive".

Representatives for the Clintons have not responded to comment for this story, and Obama's office declined to comment.

In a clip from the interview, Clinton tells host Sarah Ferguson she believes Trump is the most unsafe president in USA history and that the whole world should be concerned.

The move came after decades of sex harassment allegations against the producer were revealed in a New York Times report.

He's already been fired - two days ago - by the board of directors of The Weinstein Company "in light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days".

Longtime Clinton aides have been confused by the former secretary of state's silence on the issue, questioning - in private - why she has not weighed in at all.

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has given the three biggest names in Democratic politics more than $75,000 directly since the mid-1990s.

Not only was he a major bundler of campaign cash for Obama and Clinton but he's also hosted a series of fundraisers at his various homes around the country over the years.

In 2013, first lady Michelle Obama praised Weinstein for his involvement in a student film symposium at the White House. Tim Kaine, the Democratic party's 2016 vice presidential nominee, sat down for an interview on CNN's "New Day".

Democrats in the U.S. Senate rushed last week to condemn Weinstein and donate any contributions received from the movie executive to charities.

"I'm going to do everything I can going forward as an active citizen to speak out", Clinton said. "She's been silent. Her silence is deafening", Republican Party Chair Ronna McDaniel said Monday, according to The Hill.

McDaniel pushed back, however, on any comparison of Weinstein and President Donald Trump, whom multiple women have accused of harassment and was infamously recorded by Access Hollywood saying he could grab women by their genitals. The Times reported that Weinstein pressured younger women into giving him massages and asked them to watch him bathe, among other harassment.
