Spanish La Liga match report Getafe v FC Barcelona 16 September 2017

Barcelona's Dembele tears tendon out 3-4 months

The Brazil global netted his first Barca goal with six minutes remaining as Ernesto Valverde's men recovered from a terrible first half to claim a fourth straight top-flight victory in 2017-18.

Dembele had to be withdrawn in the first half of his side's dramatic 2-1 victory on Sunday (AEST), leaving the field after sustaining the problem while attempting a back-heel near the corner flag when the match was still goalless.

But another of Valverde's subs, Denis Suarez, struck for the first time since January as the visitors battled back in the second half, before Paulinho grabbed the victor just as it looked like they would have to settle for a draw.

Gaku Shibasaki's wonder strike just before half-time gave Getafe a shock lead against Barca, who lost Ousmane Dembele to injury, but Ernesto Valverde's substitutes made all the difference, with Denis and Paulinho both getting on the scoresheet.

In the 16th minute Getafe squandered a great opportunity to grab the lead after Molina failed to connect to Baku Shibasaki's deflected cross.

Ousmane Dembele started his first La Liga game alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi in the final third, while Andres Iniesta kept his position in the team.

The France winger who an initial €105million, was making his first La Liga start for the Catalans, picked up a hamstring injury and was replaced by Gerard Deulofeu.

Messi nearly found a quick-fire equaliser, his free kick curling towards Guaita's top-left corner, but the goalkeeper managed to tip it over.

Barcelona completed the comeback vs. Getafe and remain ideal in La Liga courtesy of new-signing Paulinho's strike late on.

Denis Suarez equalized in the second half.

Valverde introduced Paulinho in his final change, but it was Getafe who nearly grabbed a shock victor when Mauro Arambarri's deflected effort bounced off the foot of the post.

"I'm very happy to have scored the winning goal, it was very special", Paulinho said.
