Egyptian security forces kill 10 suspected militants in Cairo

Sinai blast kills 18 Egyptian cops

At least 18 policemen have been killed and three injured on Monday in a terrorist attack claimed by the Islamic State in North Sinai's city of Al-Arish.

Egyptian officials say Monday's ambush left 18 police dead and seven wounded. The gunmen later opened fire with machine guns and commandeered a police pickup truck.

Meanwhile, the forces also engaged in a shootout at a separate apartment with another two militants.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack in a brief statement carried by its Aamaq website.

The attack took place about 30 kilometers (nearly 19 miles) west of al-Arish in northern Sinai, the epicenter of a long-running insurgency now led by the terrorist group.

The Cleveland Browns are building for the future - and it's a good thing, too, because the present looks very grim indeed. The touchdown pulled the Browns within 21-18 after a two-point conversion run by running back Isaiah Crowell.

Earlier on Sunday, Egypt's official MENA news agency said nine militants were killed and five policemen injured in the raid.

In March, the military said militants killed 10 soldiers during an army raid in Sinai's central region. That was the deadliest attacks in two years.

Egypt has been fighting against a wave of terror activities that killed hundreds of policemen and soldiers since the military toppled former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 in response to mass protests against his one-year rule and his now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group.

It did not provide any casualty figures, but the attack appears to have been the deadliest on security forces in Sinai since July, when at least 23 soldiers were killed in a suicide auto bombing that targeted a checkpoint near the Gaza border.

A high-ranking source in the Egyptian Internal Ministry said that police killed nine terrorists in the operation, while five police officers were wounded, the local media reported. They said the militants sneaked into the capital from northern Sinai.
