Premier League clubs disadvantaged by transfer window changes, says John Cross

English clubs smash spending record in 1.4 billion-pound splurge

"Clubs will still have the ability to sell players to other leagues in which the transfer window is open, as they can now to leagues that have different transfer window dates, such as Major League Soccer".

On Thursday the Premier League announced that the 2018 summer transfer window will shut before the season begins rather than letting it eat into a small portion of the campaign.

Hull breached Premier League ticketing rules last season by not offering concessionary prices to children and senior citizens in certain parts of the KCOM Stadium.

The plan has drawn some criticism, however, as clubs from leagues across Europe will still be able to poach Premier League players until their own domestic windows close.

To throw up one potential problem in a transfer window that has become so much more fractious this year, it could allow bigger foreign clubs to string their English counterparts along; to leverage the very regulations against them.

"The first transfer window in which this applies will be the summer transfer window in 2018 (ahead of the 2018/19 season) and it will close on 17.00 on Thursday 9 August 2018".

"I believe the decision is right", said Schalke's Peter Peters. As such, many have suggested the league expects its counterparts to follow suit.

Pittsburgh at Penn State (#4) - Start time 8:30pm
Realistically it's impossible to completely shutdown a player like Barkley as Pitt's defense found out early in the third quarter. Penn State will play on BTN live Sunday, Oct. 15 starting at 3:00 p.m.as the Nittany Lions take on Maryland in College Park, Md.

- It was not a unanimous decision as some clubs voted against the move. "The transfer window is exhausting", he said recently.

Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe added: "That will be hard because of the different starts of the season".

Watzke added: "The transfer period's just too long. Now we have to extend the discussion to a European level", said Marotta.

Arsene Wenger, who sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool on deadline day despite having fielded the same player against the team he was set to join, was highly critical of the existing window earlier this week.

The proposal needed two-thirds of clubs to back the move and 14 voted in favour, five against with one abstention - with the one club abstaining it needed 13 votes in order to be passed.

Asked when he would like to see the window close, Ceferin said: "It is no bad idea to close the window at the end of July".
