Trump Fires Chief Strategist Steve Bannon

Steve Bannon

Donald Trump on Saturday thanked Steve Bannon for his "service" a day after the United States president parted ways with his controversial former chief strategist and key campaign ally.

President Trump on Saturday broke his silence on the abrupt departure of White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, belatedly thanking his former campaign chairman. He came to the campaign during my run against the Crooked Hillary Clinton - it was great!

Charlie Spiering, Breitbart News' White House correspondent, also tweeted the news, disclosing that Bannon was already back in the company's Washington, D.C., newsroom, where he led its evening editorial meeting.

Neither the White House nor Bannon have clarified the reason for his departure at this time, despite long-running rumors that Bannon has been losing Trump's trust.

He had joined the campaign team of Donald Trump in August 2016, drawing on the republican candidate many positions to nationalist and anti-establishment.

Dollar rally sets gold back as markets await Fed minutes
USA crude CLc1 was about 0.2 percent higher at $46.88 a barrel, failing to make up most of Wednesday's 1.6 percent slide. The benchmark German 10-year yield was down almost two basis points to 0.42%, coming off Wednesday's high of 0.47%.

Hours after he was ousted from the White House on Friday, Bannon returned to his previous job as the executive chair of Breitbart News.

Maher said, "Trump told him this bunker is not big enough for the both of us". "I think that.his (Trump's) actual default position is the position of his base, the position that got him elected".

Media reports suggest that the "opposition" consist of senior economic adviser Gary Cohn, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and National Security Adviser HR McMaster, officials Bannon views as moderating forces in the West Wing steering the President away from a nationalist agenda. "It will be much more conventional", Bannon said.

Sources told CNN that Bannon's ouster had been in the works for two weeks and a source said that while Bannon was given the option to resign, he was ultimately forced out. "We're about to rev that machine up".

The White House Friday afternoon said Bannon was leaving. Bannon was at the White House when he received the call that it was time for him to leave.
