Multiplayer in 'No Man's Sky' gets fans' hopes up all over again

No Man's Sky may finally get co-op exploration and story overhaul in next update

Yeah, we want that ship.

No Man's Sky developer Hello Games has been relatively quiet following the big launch and even bigger controversy surrounding their ambitious space exploration indie game.

The game at its launch had over 200,000 players logged in playing the game. Included in this update are a number of improvements to the game including new ships, aliens, updated graphics, a new way of generating player missions, new places to explore including space derelicts and 30 hours of new story to dig into. The mysterious Atlas Path story has also been improved.

Chelsea's Kenedy set to join Newcastle United
Kenedy officially returned to Chelsea in January, although he was already at Cobham in December, training with the first team. But with so much potential, he may become a key part of the spark needed in the attacking third for the squad.

Ancient portals can now be activated.

With the plethora of changes coming in Atlas Rises, here are the highlights. The new update will double the lore and interactions of the existing game and allow players to discover the truth behind the Abandoned Building logs, the World of Glass, the Sentinels, the Redemption of the Gek, and the meaning of sixteen... With the new trade goods being added in and a tiered crafting system, players could essentially supply and demand as they see fit across the stars. Plus improved graphics for the entire game with more variety and visual quality of planetary biomes and the addition of the terrain manipulator to excavate buried resources in the region. It's been re-calibrated to give you more info and better rewards for scanning everything you see. It works "anywhere on any planet", and lets you choose from various materials, shapes and sizes. Today's update brought a handful of improvements and new features, including a limited multiplayer experience, delighting fans and making some excited for future updates. Instead, they will be represented by glowing orbs. That more easily enables community meet ups, and for the first time, there's a step toward full co-op play, as you get to see the position of up to 16 other players via floating orbs. If you've been looking for a reason to jump back into the controversial universe simulator, there are about a dozen in the new Altas Rises update. In the last eight weeks a quarter of a million players from across the globe (174 countries, to be precise!) have come together - united by a shared love of mystery and science fiction - to form the Citizen Science Division.

The full details (if you can call them that) of the update are on the official site.
