Iran warns missile attack on IS in Syria can be repeated

The Revolutionary Guards said, according to the New York Times, the missile launches "targeted the headquarters and meeting place and suicide vehicle assembly line of ISIS terrorists" in the province of Deir al-Zour, where Islamic State group forces surround an estimated 200,000 people in a government-held section of the provincial capital of the same name.

Iranian media reported that it was the first time the country's armed forces had used medium-range ground-to-ground missiles in thirty years.

"In this operation, several ground-to-ground mid-range missiles were fired from IRGC bases in Kermanshah Province and targeted Takfiri forces in the Deir Ezzor region in Eastern Syria", the IRGC said in a statement published on its official news website, Sepah News.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the missile attack against Takfiri positions in Syria was "just a soft warning". Russian Federation backs Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, whom Iran also supports, while the us -led coalition is aligned with groups that oppose the Assad regime and ISIS. The U.S. recently deployed a truck-mounted missile system in Syria as Iranian-backed forces cut off the advance of the U.S. -supported rebels along the Iraqi border.

Meanwhile, tensions between the U.S. and Iran have mounted since President Donald Trump took office, with the two countries imposing sanctions on one another last month.

79 now feared dead or missing in London blaze, police say
This relies on dental records, fingerprints and DNA when possible and also features like tattoos or scars. British officials have announced a nationwide minute of silence to honor the victims on Monday morning.

The Guard said it launched the strikes on Sunday in retaliation for attacks in Tehran earlier this month that were claimed by the Islamic State group. Iran's last foreign missile strike is believed to have been carried out in April 2001, targeting an exiled Iranian group in Iraq.

Tillerson accused Iran of seeking "hegemony" in the Middle East at the expense of United States allies like Saudi Arabia in last Wednesday's testimony to the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

It's also aimed to tell the USA that Iran is fighting the Islamic State on its own terms, Handjani said. However, it stopped short of directly blaming the kingdom for the attack, though many in the country have expressed suspicion that Iran's regional rival had a hand in the assault.

Iran has been formally PUT ON NOTICE for firing a ballistic missile.Should have been thankful for the awful deal the US made with them! The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to reporters.

Sharif told The Associated Press that the missile launch reflected Iran's "military power", though Iran has no intention of starting another war. "We are tracking their actions and also their words". "The supporters of terrorists should take heed of Iran's message of strength". It said the boat was one of two Iranian boats fishing in the Gulf that had been pushed off course by waves. A USA official told AFP the pilot of the Syrian plane appeared to have ejected before the jet was hit, though his fate was unknown.
