Lakers reportedly won't give up young assets for Paul George

NBA: Paul George's Future — Was Larry Bird Leaving Pacers a Clue?

Although George would constitute a significant acquisition for Los Angeles, the rebuilding Lakers do not now intend to part with any of their young assets in a trade with the Pacers, sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

Four-time NBA All Star Paul George reportedly told the Indiana Pacers that he plans on becoming a free agent in the summer of 2018.

League sources told The Vertical that George wanted to be forthcoming with Pacers' management of his plans and not leave them with any confusion regarding his intentions. Without the DPE, the best the Pacers can offer George is a five-year deal worth approximately $180 million, much closer to what he can get in competing offers (in the range of $130 million). This speculation is believed to have rooted from the fact that he wants a homecoming to Southern California and to play with the purple and gold team.

Polls open for French parliamentary election
Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel also welcomed the vote's outcome, tweeting that it paved "the way for reforms in France+Europe". The conservative Republicans are expected to form the bulk of the opposition but the Socialists face a humiliating defeat.

Paul George has put the Indiana Pacers in a bad place by diminishing his own trade value, but the star could potentially be available for a relative bargain price if any team wants to bet on convincing him to stay long term. He has played for the Pacers since being selected by IN with the 10th pick of the 2010 draft. "I'm here. I'm a Pacer". That was the report from The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday afternoon that sent the National Basketball Association world into a frenzy.

George averaged 23.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists this past season.

A trade would also ensure the Lakers could offer George the best possible contract. When George ends up in a Lakers uniform is still undetermined. They have been linked to George in rumors before and could decide to look into the possibility again. And that may be what prompted George to make his decision known. Cleveland then eliminated the Pacers with a first-round sweep - four wins by a combined total of 16 points - on its way to a third straight Eastern Conference crown.
