Marcell Dareus doesn't want to face Patriots without Tom Brady

Even getting a stay will be hard for Brady's legal team. The Patriots quarterback still has the option to appeal to the supreme court.

The NFL penalized Brady, twice the league's most valuable player, after a lawyer it hired to investigate the incident said the quarterback was "generally aware" two Patriots employees had conspired to deflate the balls, which could make them easier to grip. We have a broken system that must be fixed.

But Brady has one move left in his legal playbook.

While Brady is among the most accomplished winners in sports, and no one knows his craft better than the four-time Super Bowl champion, this is uncharted territory for him.

Except, of course, how does that quarterback get any practice reps in light of the urgency of preparing Garoppolo and keeping Brady somewhat sharp?

The 75-year-old Olson served as Solicitor General of the United States under President George W. Bush and has argued 62 cases in front of the Supreme Court. He still could seek a stay of his suspension that would endure while the case would be pending before the Supreme Court and keep playing during the upcoming season.

Timeline of the attempted coup in Turkey
Blasts were heard at Istanbul's famous Taksim Square, where large crowds gathered after news of the attempted coup broke. According to Jenkins, members of the Turkish opposition haven't actually supported the coup attempt in the country.

Brady's suspension, it seems, will stand. He also would miss games against the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills.

The SuperBook of Las Vegas, Westgate, is pimping the fact that the Patriots can indeed cheat their way through the first four games of the 2016 season and win their division. In fairness to Dareus, his team is only 1-8 in games played against the Patriots in his career, so it would undoubtedly feel better if he could get that second win against one of the best quarterbacks in National Football League history, rather than that guy's backup. After a lengthy process, the courts have decided not to allow an appeal from Tom Brady.

In May, the NFLPA filed a petition with a federal appeals court asking for a rehearing of the case by a three-judge panel or the whole court.

The Patriots remain the Super Bowl favorites, with odds of 6-1 at the Westgate and 13-2 at CG Technology.

At least Dareus is saying the right thing here and not slathering himself in weak-sauce, like many of those outside of New England tend to do when it comes to talking about Brady or the Patriots. Brady has gotten favorable rulings from Judge Richard Berman (when his suspension was over-turned in September) and from Robert Katzmann, chief judge of the Second Circuit, who voted to overturn the suspension in April, but lost in a 2-1 decision.

Requests for comment from NFLPA lead counsel Jeffrey Kessler were not returned.
