5 Healthy Habits You Should Have In 2021

2020 has ended. Many learned to distance themselves from the harmful hold of COVID-19. Various opportunities arose and enabled many to thrive and learn new skills. And while the pandemic still looms this 2021, the new year always gives room for growth and learning healthy habits for a happier life.

Here are five of them.

Get Up Early

You might have gotten used to sleeping in or getting up late when you started working from home. While it may seem a convenient way to get more rest, getting up late may be counterproductive as you will be working at later hours and end up sleeping late after work.

Start your 2021 right by sleeping and getting up early. Develop a habit of sleeping earlier than the time you usually go to bed. Then, sleep an hour earlier than your previous sleeping hour until you reestablish your body clock. You’ll also learn to wake up on your alarm instead of hitting snooze every time it rings.

Go Outdoors

2020 may have been the year of staying indoors to avoid the clutches of COVID-19. Still, going outdoors from time to time is beneficial for your wellness, as proven by many studies. Savoring greenery and fresh air while taking a walk will do wonders for your mental and physical health.  You don’t even have to go to distant places to enjoy the outdoors. You can go to the nearest community park, playground, or hiking trail. Even vertical developments like Lumiere Residences in Pasig have open areas and a landscaped garden for residents to stroll, jog, or meditate without leaving their community’s vicinity.

Spending a few minutes outdoors will help you feel less secluded. You will also get to experience more freedom and openness in your strolls or hikes.

Eat Well

Part of self-care is eating well. You won’t function well if you don’t replenish your body with healthy fruits, veggies, and protein. Start by eating a hearty and balanced breakfast to get you started on your activities. Having the right amount of nutrition allows you to feel energized and happy with your daily work and routines.

Besides eating ample portions and balanced meals, it is crucial to drink eight to ten glasses of water. Keeping yourself hydrated helps flush out toxins, move bowels smoothly, and get you glowing and healthier skin. Drinking water also helps your brain function better for optimal cognition and processing.

Give More Importance to Self-Care

Self-care also includes showering daily, taking care of your hair, following a skincare routine, and pampering yourself once in a while. Treating yourself to a warm bath or homemade spa may help you feel more special and loved. After all, sometimes the only person who can take care of you is yourself. Doing so also allows you to have a more positive outlook for 2021 and the next years.

Be Thankful

While 2020 may have been a rough year for many, there are still things you might be thankful for in the last year. These things can be your job, promotion, and other opportunities that enabled you to grow and flourish. List all the things you were grateful for in 2020, and you will develop a habit of being thankful for what you have no matter the circumstance. You’ll also learn to appreciate the simplest things in life instead of taking them for granted.

Starting afresh may not be easy. Still, letting go of old habits and learning new ones, like these five healthy routines, will jumpstart you to a healthier and more proactive 2021 and lifestyle in general.
