Protests break out as USA, S.Korea begin major air drill

Pyongyang

Vigilant Ace will feature the unusual inclusion of both the US F-22 and F-35 stealth fightersSouth Korea and the USA are launching their five-day-long Vigilant Ace 18 air force exercise on December 4. They will for the first time feature six F-22 Raptor stealth jets, that arrived to South Korea specifically for the war games along with six F-35As stealth jets.

The piece - which came shortly after Kim Jong Un enjoyed a visit to a military tyre factory - added: "The US and South Korean puppet warmongers would be well advised to bear in mind that their DPRK-targeted military drill will be as foolish as an act precipitating their self-destruction".

Some local media report that B-1B bombers will also join aerial drills, but officials did not confirm their participation.

It is scheduled to last five days and comes less than a week after the rogue state's latest intercontinental ballistic missile test, which Pyongyang claimed was capable of hitting the USA mainland. About 12,000 US military personnel are participating.

South Korea and the U.S. seek to pressurize North Korea to return to the negotiating table to abandon its nuclear programme. -South Korean drills are preparation for invasion.

A spokesman for North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country said in the statement on Sunday that the goal of the training is to "totally destroy" North Korea, according to comments carried by North Korean state news agency KCNA. Pyongyang lashed out at the drills as incitement to a nuclear war.

Underscoring the tensions, Senator Lindsey Graham of SC urged the Pentagon on Sunday to move dependents of American service members out of South Korea because of the threat of conflict.

In addition to American diplomats and other embassy workers, about 28,500 US troops operate in South Korea, and many come to their posts with their families, who often live on huge, well-guarded military bases.

Others have been stoking the looming specter of war with warnings that conflict is growing ever closer, like White House national security adviser HR McMaster who said the probability of war is " increasing every day", and Senator Lindsey Graham, who has called on the Pentagon to start evacuating families of United States servicemen staged in South Korea.

"It's insane to send spouses and children to South Korea, given the provocation of North Korea", Mr.

"If necessary, the president and the United States will have to take care of it, because he has said he's not going to allow this murderous, rogue regime to threaten the United States".
