American Airlines pilots agree to fly holiday flights after scheduling glitch

Pilots say they will staff all scheduled American Airlines flights for Christmas

Traveling during the holidays can be fraught with problems, and the difficulties this year may be compounded by a vacation scheduling glitch that could leave hundreds of American Airlines flights without pilots.

By Thursday, however, American Airlines had stated that the issue - a clerical error, it says - was now being resolved, and have not resorted to canceling any flights.

About American Airlines Group American Airlines and American Eagle offer an average of almost 6,700 flights per day to almost 350 destinations in more than 50 countries.

"Customers can rest assured we will have the full schedule covered in December", Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines, said in a phone interview on Friday evening.

If they play with the vigour and confidence and the pressing game they played against Spurs, they should beat United. I would go for the game one game at a time and I would go for the most important game now. "I don't play tennis".

As first reported, the error impacted more than 15,000 flights from December 17-31.

American Airlines' pilots have reached an agreement with the carrier to staff every scheduled flight during the upcoming holiday season, avoiding cancellations that were threatened by a computer error.

But on Friday afternoon, the Allied Pilots Assn., the union that represents American's 15,000 pilots, said the group had reached an agreement with the carrier regarding the extra pay, among other issues surrounding the vacation snafu.

"We remain seriously concerned about the potential for significant schedule disruption for our passengers, pilots, and fellow employees during the critical holiday travel season", the APA added.
