Sluggish start for Blitzboks in World Seven Series

Chasing their first tournament win since Vancouver in 2016, the New Zealanders clawed their way back with tries to Scott Curry and Andrew Knewstubb after Specman was yellow-carded for a deliberate knock on.

Two tries in the second half for Kenya settled the hugely physical tie as Shujaa rose to second in Pool A on seven points, two behind series champions South Africa.

South Africa beat Olympic champions Fiji 12-7 in the semi-final and New Zealand came from behind to beat England 14-5.

Despite doing well to keep the ball in the second half, Shujaa finally bowed to pressure as All Blacks used the chance they got to turn over in a try that was awarded to them after a video review.

"We let NZ back into the game with a silly yellow card and one or two mistakes towards the end nearly cost us‚" SA captain Snyman said.
