One pilot killed, another injured after Air Force jet crashes in Texas

An airman has been killed and another injured after an Air Force training jet crashed near Amistad Reservoir on the Texas Mexico border

An Air Force pilot is dead and another hurt after a T-38 Talon crashed Monday afternoon in Texas.

The plane is a twin-engine supersonic jet primarily used for training, according to the Air Force website.

The Air Force's largest training base on Tuesday suspended all flights following a deadly T-38 Talon aircraft crash a day prior, the service said in a statement.

A Val Verde hospital spokesperson could not be reached about the condition of the second person involved the crash.

Laughlin AFB officials say emergency personnel and first responders were on scene, but no information was provided about the surviving pilot's injuries.

Witnesses told the Del Rio News-Herald they saw a parachute and a lone pilot descend to the ground near the crash, according to the Post. The statement said a board of officers would investigate.

The names of the pilots have not been released at this time.
