Stores are unveiling their plans for the most critical days of the holiday shopping season. In past years, Walmart has put new items on sale every hour or so during the first hours of the Thanksgiving evening. And while some retailers like Walmart have been open on Thanksgiving for decades, more are following suit to pursue consumers who want to start browsing and spending in between the turkey and pumpkin pie.

New this year, Walmart is color-coding its departments in-store and in its circular so that shoppers can easily find what they're looking for in potentially large Black Friday crowds.

However, store openings are optional on Thanksgiving - so some retailers may not be open.

Target also says its Black Friday deals will be available online early the morning of Thanksgiving, with free shipping on all orders. The company is also highlighting deals that will only be available at certain hours.

You can now purchase Hidden Valley ranch dressing by the keg
Hidden Valley Ranch has come out with a holiday outlet for what it calls "festive gifts for the ultimate ranch fan". Hidden Valley Ranch and Flavour Gallery are selling mini-kegs of Ranch Dressing just in time for Christmas.

Most Sears stores will open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving and close at midnight, then reopen at 5 a.m. on Black Friday. Blu-ray movies start at $3.99 on Black Friday.

Toys "R" Us will open its doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and the store will stay open until 11 p.m. Friday.
