Packers Cut Martellus Bennett With Failure to Disclose Physical Condition Designation

Packers' Martellus Bennett won't play vs. Bears after shoulder injury

The Packers have cut former Bears tight end Martellus Bennett, only hours after ruling him out for Sunday's game in Soldier Field.

Bennett was in his first year of a three-year, $21 million deal signed with the Packers this past offseason.

Bennett will now be available on waivers for the other 31 National Football League teams, who have until Thursday afternoon to place a claim. If he goes unclaimed after that, he is free to sign with any team and continue playing.

In seven games this season, Bennett has 24 receptions for 233 yards and no touchdowns.

Trump has previously dismissed DPRK leader Kim Jong Un as a "little rocket man" on a suicide mission. Korea's continuing efforts to expand its missile and nuclear weapons programs will be a main topic.

Bennett is now dealing with a shoulder injury and head coach Mike McCarthy said the tight end won't play Sunday against the Chicago Bears. McCarthy said Bennett was in Green Bay on Tuesday meeting with the medical staff. Bennett replaced Jared Cook and was thought to become a major part of Green Bay's offense as another dependable target for Rodgers in the passing game. Bennett had base salaries of $900,000 this season, $3.6 million (plus a $2 million roster bonus) in 2018 and $5.65 million in 2019. If the veteran tight end is healthy, there should be a substantial market for him. Without Bennett on Monday night against the Lions, Kendricks had two catches for 32 yards and Rodgers one catch for 5 yards.

Though we don't yet know exactly what happened between Bennett and the Packers, it seems likely that his injury is somewhat serious. They didn't give him one, and, concerned about his locker room presence, traded him a year later.

He is the brother of Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett. By the afternoon, Bennett had been cut by the Packers.
