Brian Michael Bendis Leaves Marvel For DC

Brian Michael Bendis Leaves Marvel, Signs Exclusivity Deal With DC

Bendis also had critically acclaimed runs on Daredevil and Alias, about a flawed private investigator named Jessica Jones, a comic which became the basis for the 2015 Netflix series starring Krysten Ritter.

Former Clevelander Brian Michael Bendis has switched sides and will now write comics exclusively for DC, according to a DC tweet.

"We are beyond thrilled to welcome Brian Michael Bendis exclusively to the DC Family with a multiyear, multi-faceted deal", DC announced on Twitter Tuesday morning.

He started his tenure at Marvel that same year with Ultimate Spider-Man, which retold the early days of Peter Parker from a fresh perspective, free of decades of continuity. He's also done plenty of work outside of the major publishers, writing for Icon Comics and Image Comics. He's always been a writer worth reading, and made some of the best stories Marvel's ever seen. And in the increasingly important world of TV and film, Marvel has comfortably outpaced DC on both the big and small screen-Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Logan, Deadpool, Jessica Jones, and on and on.

'Black widow' Kakehi sentenced to death
Her murderous web won't protect Japan's "black widow", who's been sentenced to hang after a months-long trial. But later that week, Kakehi recanted her confession, saying that she did not remember the admission.

Bendis confirmed the news as well, saying: "This is real".

"Brian is a great partner and has contributed incredible stories and characters to the Marvel Universe over the years", said a Marvel spokesperson.

Even for folks who don't follow comics, Bendis' work has likely come across their cultural radar. I love you all. We wish him luck in his future endeavors and, like DC, can't wait to see what he can do with a fresh slate of characters. For now there is no timetable on when those titles will end or with his contract with DC will begin. I actually feel bad for all the hard core DC fans out there.
