J&K Encounter between security forces terrorists underway in Pulwama

An Army jawan was killed and a civilian injured in a fire fight raging between a group of holed up militants and security forces in Aglar Kandi village of Jammu and Kashmir's southern Pulwama district since Monday evening.

He said the search operation led to a gunbattle after the militants fired towards the security forces' positions.

Identified as Sham Sundar he was killed during an encounter between government forces and militants. Three suspected JeM terrorists were also killed in the encounter, and two AK-47 rifles and a pistol recovered, said defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia.

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness during an encounter that ensued at Samboora in Pulwama on November 2. The identity of the militants were not immediately known.

An army trooper was also killed earlier.

The operation was going on till last reports came in.

Local sources told Rising Kashmir that intermittent exchange of firing is now going-on. "He had received several bullet wounds and was taken to army hospital in a critical condition".

A civilian suffered injuries in the crossfire, a police spokesman said.

The encounter is on between security forces and terrorists. Meanwhile, Internet services have been snapped in Pulwama district in wake of the encounter.
