Rose Namajunas scores stunning TKO of Joanna Jedrzejczyk

UFC 217 Joanna Jedrzejczyk next to become huge MMA star — if UFC can capitalize

Joanna Champion was the first of three incumbent champions to fall at UFC 217 in New York City on Saturday night.

Let's call him the Mouth from Manchester.

Next up was a grudge match between Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw with the bantamweight title on the line.

"(Garbrandt) is a hell of a fighter", Dillashaw said after the win.

Jedrzejczyk was attempting to tie the record for most women's title defences, held by Ronda Rousey. "She's an awesome fighter and stuff, but I've dealt with a lot worse in my life".

A fighter who has made no secret of her personal troubles in the past, it is truly inspirational to see her where she is now, the UFC strawweight champion of the world at just 25.

She had barely been troubled since transitioning from Muay Thai to MMA.

The Skinny: Bantamweight hopefuls collide in the opening bout of the evening as Zahabi, the younger brother of TriStar Gym co-founder and GSP's head coach Firas Zahabi, seeks collect his second UFC victory and maintain his flawless record against the talented 22-year-old Ramos, who earned a unanimous decision win in promotional debut back in February.

Facing tumult at home, Trump sets out on lengthy Asia trip
The first Trump-Putin meeting in person was held on July 7 on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Germany's Hamburg. The Trumps tossed white flower petals into the waters at the memorial in honour of those who died at Pearl Harbor.

And then she dropped the champion like a stone in the first round.

The subsequent victory, set up by a looping left hook that ultimately shocked the MMA world when her follow-up attack forced Jedrezjczyk to tap due to strikes, represented a full circle journey for Namajunas from her UFC debut.

Namajunas will be a different - and in this reporter's opinion, refreshing - style of champion.

"It feels like a movie right now", Namajunas said.

"I will keep my head up" she said of the loss, and added "I will be back stronger". I don't know, maybe that's just what they feel they need to do to entertain things but I'm just sick of it.

"I'm just regular. There ain't nothing special here". I'm sick of all the hate and anger.

"Martial arts is about respect".
