Netflix earnings surge on strong international growth

That figure includes 5.3 million subscribers added during the July-September period, according to Netflix's quarterly earnings report released Monday.

The video streaming company's shares slipped a bit to $200 after touching a record high of $204.38, spurred by a series of price target increases by brokerages.

Understanding Profitability at Netflix, Inc.

Scandal and Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes left ABC to sign an exclusive production deal with Netflix in August, and the streamer made its first play in the mergers and acquisitions space when it acquired comic book writer Mark Millar's Millarworld that same month. Out of 31 total analysts who were surveyed, 2 rated it a Moderate Buy, 1 rated it a Strong Sell, 9 rated it hold, and 19 rated it a Strong Buy. But after today's better-than-expected subscriber additions, Netflix's stock rose more than 1% in after-hours trading. That decision was not tied to Netflix's recent price increases in several markets, including in the USA, according to CFO David Wells. Netflix has $235.0 highest and $45.0 lowest target. The Los Gatos, Calif. -based company reported earnings per share of 29 cents, up 142% year over year, on revenue of $2.99 billion, up 30%, in the third quarter. The company also provides DVDs-by-mail membership services.

When considering a new stock purchase, a lot of investors find out how Wall Street analysts feel about the company before they buy in.

Pachter reiterated his underperform rating on Netflix, but upped his price target to 93 from 88.

"You can see that we've done very well in worldwide without it", Hastings said.
