Two Lashkar-e Taiba Militants Killed In Encounter In Kashmir's Pulwama

Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Wasim Shah, wanted in connection with several terror attacks, and his aide were gunned down on Saturday by the security forces in an encounter in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

People also took to the streets in Boniyar area of Uri on Saturday after Indian police took custody of an alleged braid-chopper following a braid-cutting incident.

"The vehicles were headed for the MLA's home to pick him up. The militants continued firing on the vehicle after it overturned", the officer said.

A fierce gunfight is underway between militants and the state government forces in Litter area of district Pulwama.

Talking to reporters, J&K Inspector General of Police Munir Khan said, "Shah's killing is a big success for the security forces as he was recruiting cadres for the LeT".

Meanwhile, the authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Pulwama district to prevent people from sharing information about the tense situation in the area.
