Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will on Saturday share the stage for the first time after the Janata Dal (United) chose to return to the NDA fold in July this year.

Addressing a function on the centenary celebrations of the Patna University, he said measures like grant of central status were "a thing of the past" and his government has taken "a step forward" towards making 10 private universities and 10 government varsities world class.

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of four sewerage projects under Namami Gange and four National Highway projects worth over 3,700 crore rupees in Mokama.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended the centenary celebrations of the Patna University and also launch several development projects worth over Rs 3,700 crore.

This will be the prime minister's first full-fledged official tour to the state since the BJP became a part of the ruling coalition in Bihar in July in 2017. However, a minor controversy has erupted with actor-turned-politician and local BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha raising the issue of not being invited to the programme despite being a Patna University alumnus.

"Patna University should not stay behind (in the challenge)", he said. I bow to this land of Bihar. "Hence the government is spending crores of rupees in its cleanliness".
