Tesla To Voluntarily Recall 11000 Model X Vehicles Over Seat Cables That Could Break During A Crash

SAN FRANCISCO-Tesla Inc.is recalling about 11,000 Model X sport utility vehicles due to possible issues with their second-row fold-flat seats. If this occurs, the seat could move forward during a crash, the automaker said.

A spokesperson wrote in a statement: "Tesla determined that a small number of cables in the second row fold-flat seats in some 2016 and 2017 Model X vehicles may need to be adjusted". If improperly installed, the latch may not properly engage the seat, causing it and passengers seated into it to dislodge from the vehicle during a crash. Tesla added that the company has not received any issues or accident related to this problem.

Owners of impacted units will be notified by Tesla.

Tesla said it can make the adjustment using its mobile service vans so that customers don't have to take the SUV into a service center.
