Colombian conspiracy? Peru & Colombia at center of World Cup match-fixing fiasco

Fully aware that a draw would suit both countries, Colombia's Radamel Falcao told Peru's players of the situation; with Chile trailing Brazil 3-0 and Colombia and Peru tied at 1-1, both teams were heading for their desired outcomes.

The two nations played out a 1-1 draw in their final qualifier this week, which earned the Colombians their place at the Russian Federation showpiece while Peru are through to the playoffs, ahead of Chile on goal difference.

The former Manchester United marksman can be seen approaching different Peru players with his hand covering his mouth as the clock ran down.

Several South American media outlets have published photos of the moment, referring to it as the "Lima Pact".

Colombia are sure to be in Russian Federation next summer for the World Cup, while Peru have a chance at making the finals for the first time since 1982 when they face New Zealand in the playoffs next month.

"I think Peru has been a worthy rival, they fought for 90 minutes just like us". The match was very tight. With Argentina and Uruguay also winning their respective matches, all of Chile's World Cup chances rested upon the outcome of Colombia's game with Peru.

Audit triggers extra help to close the ethnic jobs divide
The findings show that the unemployment rate for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) people (8 percent) is almost double that of white British adults (4.6 percent).

With only minutes left, Colombian striker Radamel Falcao was spotted talking to the Peru players, and many have speculated online that he might have been explaining the outcome of the current standings.

Peru captain Paolo Guerrero stopped short of saying they would win, but did have reasonably high confidence levels.

"It is best to travel as fast as possible, but we also have to see how we will handle the issue of players [who play] overseas", Gareca said. "We suffered a lot but in the end we did it".

"Obviously in the end, we knew what the other results were and you tell yourself, 'calm down a bit, we mustn't take any risks".

He told Colombian outlet Win Sports: "I believe that Colombia today can play against anyone". What pact? That's speculation.
