Another Equifax hacking possible as web page taken down

Equifax has probably been hacked again

Equifax - whose multimillionaire CEO made a decision to set sail from the company weeks after the announcement that, under his watch, the information of 143 million Americans was obtained by hackers - was sending visitors of its website to the completely bogus software update.

Equifax did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"As I tried to find my credit report on the Equifax website I clicked on an Equifax link and was redirected to a malicious URL", Abrahms wrote.

Several hours after Goodin's piece went live, Equifax disabled the page in question, saying it was doing so out of "an abundance of caution" while it investigated the claims. The hack has led to multiple federal and state investigations and the departure of the company's 12-year chief executive.

In early October, Equifax revised the number of consumers potentially impacted in the breach - bumping up the total in the 145.5 million and reducing the number in Canada from an estimated 100,000 to 8,000.

Ezekiel Elliott's 6-Game NFL Suspension Reinstated by Court
Elliott, the league's leading rusher last season as a rookie, has totaled 393 rushing yards in five games this season. Two weeks ago, the league sought to throw out Elliott's entire lawsuit to restore the six-game suspension.

"We are aware of the situation identified on the website", an Equifax spokesman said in a statement.

Last month, Equifax revealed that the hackers exploited a USA website application vulnerability to gain access to certain files, which included names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, mailing addresses, and driver's license numbers. Equifax says that the data breach, one of the largest in history, occurred from mid-May through July 2017.

The cyberattack occurred through a vulnerability in an open-source application framework it uses called Apache Struts. Equifax first disclosed that breach in September.
