Warrant issued for Deandre Harris, accused of unlawful wounding on August 12

Charlottesville magistrate issues warrant for black victim of parking garage beating

A group of six men violently beat DeAndre Harris, a counterprotester, in a parking garage next to the Charlottesville Police Department on August 12 after a white nationalist rally was dispersed by police.

A black man who was brutally beaten in a parking garage during a deadly far right-wing rally in Charlottesville in August is now facing an arrest warrant, Virginia police said Monday.

"A Charlottesville Police Department detective did respond, verified the facts and a warrant for Unlawful Wounding (Va Code 18.2-51) was issued".

It should be noted that our photographer Roberts was also attacked with what appears to be a wooden flagstaff by a man identified as Dan Borden of Cincinnati, one of those charged in the attack on Harris.

S. Lee Merritt, a civil attorney for Harris, called the charge "clearly retaliatory".

Maybe it's the calm before the storm". "Maybe now, nearly more than any other time, we need a great military". Trump concluded this screed with the declaration that " only one thing will work ".

Once Harris is arrested and taken in to custody an update to this media release will be sent out. "Every time I went to stand up I was knocked back down", Harris has said about the attack, according to BuzzFeed. The warrant was issued from a magistrate.

Harris was marching in opposition to the rally on August 12 when a scuffle broke out between a group of white supremacists and several counterprotesters at a downtown parking garage.

WVIR reports that the the Charlottesville Police Department explained that the accuser went to the magistrate's office in person to discuss what happened the day of the attack.

So far, federal authorities have taken no action to identify the man holding what appears to be a 9mm Glock semi-automatic handgun threatening Harris, despite high-resolution photos supplied by Roberts to the FBI. Harris suffered a concussion and a head laceration that required 10 staples. "We find it highly offensive and upsetting, but what's more jarring is that he's been charged with the same crime as the men who attacked him", Merritt said. "I chipped my tooth", Harris said. According to his attorney, Harris plans to turn himself in. Ramos even stated, "There were some non-racist members who were going to a free speech rally".
