The heavy rainfall has been predicted due to a depression formed over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Bay of Bengal.

It has now moved close to Purulia, regional Met director said G K Das said.

The depression system, which lay centred east-northeast of Balasore and northeast of Paradip, is likely to move west-northwestwards initially and then intensify into a deep depression during the next 24 hours, the meteorological centre here said.
