Clemson QB Kelly Bryant injures ankle in win over Wake Forest

Kelly Bryant Suffers Apparent Ankle Injury vs. Wake Forest

Clemson Tigers quarterback Kelly Bryant exited Saturday's Week 6 game against Wake Forest at Memorial Stadium in SC with an apparent ankle injury, according to College Football Talk's Bryan Fischer.

Indeed, much of Wake Forest's success came after Clemson had built a 28-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Bryant's 28-yard scoring pass to Deon Cain got the Tigers started.

The Tigers scored for the first time since the first quarter midway through the third quarter as a 1-yard touchdown run by Travis Etienne capped a 9-play, 68-yard drive that put the Tigers up 21-0. He was examined in the sideline medical tent and then attempted a few warm-up jogs on the sideline, but did not return to the game.

Bryant had taken a low hit on a running play.

Clemson outgained the Demon Deacons 385-131 in the first half but led only 14-0.

To say Campbell's chances of pulling off a win in this one were slim would be one of the biggest understatements of the season. Through four games, Park has led the Cyclones to a 2-2 (0-1 Big 12) record , throwing for 1,181 yards and nine touchdowns.

Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford did not play because of a left shoulder injury.

After earning recognition from the Manning and O'Brien Awards this week, Bryant's case rests in his total offense contributions, ranking 10th nationally and third-best among quarterbacks in rushing touchdowns (7).

Clemson has a short week as it goes to Syracuse on Friday night. "Wake Forest was a tough team to get ready for because they're so deep and talented". Backup Zerrick Cooper was 2-of-6 passing for 16 yards while third-string Hunter Johnson completed all five of his passes including a 13-yard TD throw to tight end Cannon Smith.

Clemson's defense continued to show why it's among the country's best. Sophomore Kendall Hinton opened the game for the Demon Deacons.

Bryant, a redshirt junior, passed for 200 yards and a touchdown prior to his injury.

Wake Forest takes next week off before heading to Georgia Tech on October 21.
