With Gareth Bale Sidelined, Welsh Eyes Turn to Ben Woodburn

Wales suffer major blow as Gareth Bale ruled out of final World Cup qualifiers

Bale was a doubt for the games having picked up a still unspecified muscle injury in Madrid's 3-1 Champions League win at Borussia Dortmund last Tuesday.

Ireland have received a massive boost ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales.

"He could have played with us [against Espanyol] but I preferred to leave him out as he had a small complaint", Zidane said on Sunday.

So Ireland should be looking to win both games regardless of Wales' result in Georgia but that has gotten more realistic with Bale's injury.

Real Madrid's forward from Wales Gareth Bale. If Woodburn can help lift Wales into the World Cup playoffs, it will only be more fuel for the runaway hype train.

Tigers' Andrew Romine to play all 9 positions vs Twins
You can see the fearlessness and the confidence he brings out there. "It made things fun", Romine told reporters. A few minutes later, Cain stood in the corner of the clubhouse with a smile on his face. "It made things light".

Despite Bale's absence, Bradshaw could well be kept out of the starting line-up by Liverpool teenager Ben Woodburn.

Wales, second in Group D and trailing leaders Serbia by four points, face Georgia in Tbilisi on Friday and the Republic of Ireland in Cardiff three days later. Blancos coach Zinedine Zidane has maintained since that the issue was not so serious, but the 28-year-old did miss his club's 2-0 La Liga win at home to Espanyol last weekend.

With just two games left to spare in the current World Cup, it will mean Wales will have to fair without their star man as Coleman's men look to book their place in the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation.

In order to secure a play-off place, Wales would realistically need at least four points from the final two group games.
