GoPro Unveils the Fusion, a 5.2K 360° Camera with OverCapture

The long awaited Go Pro Hero 6 is finally here

(NASDAQ: GPRO) today unveiled HERO6 Black, the most powerful and convenient GoPro, yet.

GoPro has just launched their new spherical GoPro Fusion camera to stake its claim in the growing virtual reality camera market.

Though it is not the first action camera to record 4K at 60FPS, the GoPro HERO6 Black officially got announced a few hours ago and takes several important things from its predecessor. In fact, the only smartphone that offers this feature is the latest iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X lineup.

Besides that, the HERO6 Black also features what GoPro says is the most advanced electronic image stabilisation ever on a HERO camera. "It's never been easier to live it, and then share it... using a GoPro", GoPro's founder and CEO, Nicholas Woodman said. The two apps have been updated to add support for 4K60fps videos. The action camera is now available for purchase via company's official website and comes with a price tag of Rs 45,000. Finally, Citigroup Inc. restated a "neutral" rating and issued a $10.50 price target on shares of GoPro in a report on Friday, September 8th.

The Handler - Updated floating handgrip with a quick-release mounting feature. While it doesn't change up the design of the Hero 5, the Hero 6 does fiddle with its insides and now provides the hardware to shoot 4K footage at 60 frames per second. As before, the camera is waterproof to 33 feet and features both Global Positioning System and a two-inch LCD touchscreen. You can control it with your voice in 10 languages. Fusion includes a waterproof shell, is mountable on GoPro's plethora of mounts, and includes voice control.

The GoPro Fusion 360 as you would expect is equipped with two lenses capable of shooting up to 5.2K video at 30 frames per second and is capable of capturing 18 megapixel spherical photographs as well as capturing 360 degree sound. The OverCapture mobile experience will be part of a new version of the GoPro App available for iOS and Android in early 2018. This feature allows users to manipulate their 360 videos to turn them into flat 1080p full HD videos, according to The Verge. It uses a network of location-based independent manufacturer representatives to sell its products to independent specialty retailers in the United States focused on sports and consumer activity capture markets. This means when you're in the moment you won't have to worry as much about framing your shot as you know you can correct this later.

Current Karma owners may unlock new features via firmware update, available today.
