Aviation regulator CAA says Ryanair 'capitulates' to pressure on passengers' rights

Michael O’Leary built Ryanair’s success on flying to smaller airports such as Weeze in the Lower Rhine region of Germany where in 2004 he was

"There is still no information here about how expenses will be treated where passengers are re-routed to and/or from other airports or where they otherwise incur additional out-of-pocket expenses as a result of the cancellations", the CAA said.

He said he welcomes the commitment but is "disappointed" that the carrier has yet to respond to a request made on September 21 for clarification on how Ryanair will help the customers affected by its cancellations.

This latest CAA announcement came a day after the Irish company - Europe's biggest budget airline - was warned officially for not complying with the law, following the cancellation of 18,000 more flights.

It comes after the CAA on Wednesday accused Ryanair of breaking European Union laws as the email it had sent customers did not sufficiently tell them about their rights.

The Irish low-priced airline will finalize 25 of their 400 aircraft between November and March 25 to eliminate the "possibility" of being forced to "cancel more flights" in the future.

Ikea buys odd jobs firm Taskrabbit
Once the deal is completed, other countries beyond the USA and United Kingdom , where TaskRabbit now operates, may be added. After all, TaskRabbit's website advertises " assembling IKEA furniture " as one of the tasks its workers can perform.

In a press release the airline state that any passenger wishing to change their mind "should write directly to Ryanair's Director of Customer Services and Ryanair will assist them in any way it can to obtain their full EU261 rights and entitlements".

Last week Michael O'Leary stated that the airline would not be accomodating affected customers by booking them on other carriers but that has changed with today's update. "There won´t be more flight cancellations caused by the quadrants this winter or in the summer of 2018", said the executive. The Dublin-based company will "comply fully with whatever requirements they ask us to", a spokesman said Thursday.

The airline has until 5pm to sort out compensation for thousands of passengers whos flights have been cancelled.

If no Ryanair flight was available to get customers to their ticketed destination, customers can opt for a comparable flight on Easyjet, Jet2, Vueling, Cityjet, Aer Lingus, Norwegian or Eurowings, the airline clarified.
