Courts remands 60 IPOB Members as FG Gazettes its Proscription

Court orders detention of 60 IPOB members

The Nigerian military has recently declared the pro-Biafra separatist group, IPOB, a "terrorist organisation".

He said the activities of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and his continuous demand for secession in the Southeast and the formation of a security guard outfit was an attempt to cause division in the country.

The court of law has been approached to order Army boss, Buratai to produce Nnmadi Kanu who is nowhere to be found since his house was invaded by troops.

The lawyer also accused the Nigerian Army of acting under express command handed down by Buratai and violently invaded the applicant's home in Afara Ukwu, Ibeku in Umuahia, killing several people while others were left injured.

The United States over the weekend said it did not recognize IPOB as a terrorist organization even though it remained committed to a united Nigeria.

Kanu is now on bail pending the resumption of his trial in Abuja next month on charges of treasonable felony.

Oil Prices Hit 2 Year High
Citigroup says that there's more likely to be a persistent shortage of oil than a big jump in supply in the coming quarters. In August, OECD stocks were 190 million barrels above the 5-year average compared to an excess of 219 million in July.

He called on the global community to prevail on the army to produce his parents and the IPOB leader.

The Nigerian army two weeks ago declared the group a terrorist organization after a clash between the two in south-east Abia State.

The statement described the ongoing Exercise Python Dance II in the South East as genocide, accusing the governors of the South East of collaborating with the Nigerian government to unleash mayhem against unarmed people.

The legal team led by Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, ‎said it had, therefore on Wednesday filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja praying for an order directing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. -Gen.

However, after Saraki's comments, the Federal Government of Nigeria had immediately taken its quest for IPOB's proscription to court where it obtained a court's order proscribing IPOB.
