Ghana Shred Nigeria to win WAFU Cup

Konadu warns players ahead of Wafu final against Nigeria

The Black Stars clobbered arch-rivals Nigeria 4-1 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, September 24 to defend the title they won four years ago on home soil.

Ghana will play Nigeria on Sunday 23rd September, 2017 and kick off is 18: 00 GMT for the finals of the WAFU Cup 2017.

Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali scored Nigeria's lone goal late in the game, but it could not change anything as the home-based Eagles settled for second place.

Ezenwa, who did not concede any goal before the final game, was awarded the best goalkeeper award.

Nigeria who got to the finals following their 1-0 win over Benin in the semi-final match were denied victory by a determined Ghana side who put up a strong performance to emerge winners.

Abe to call snap election amid regional tensions
As Mr Abe addressed reporters, more than 100 protesters gathered outside the Prime Minister's Office to demand his resignation. Koike, who is a former member of Abe's Liberal Democratic Party, said that she would lead candidates across the nation.

Ghana goal scorer, Sarfo continued from where he stopped in the first half as he kept on causing headache for the Nigeria defence.

The Black Stars had the chance to increase their lead, when substitute Patrick Razaq was tripped in the box.

However, the team has come good in the ongoing sub-regional tournament after recovering from a shaky start against Gambia and has now booked a ticket to the grand final after beating Niger 2-0 on Thursday.

"To let in four goals in the last game of competition is one of those things in football", he reasoned. "I'll thank the almighty God for bringing us this far and also congratulates our Coach and the playing body as well because without them, there wouldn't have been any team", he said.

So while it was the ideal story ending for Ghana's Black Stars B, it was an anti-climax for the Nigerians who were forced to suffer a 1-4 humiliation in yesterday's final watched by a capacity crowd.
