Indian government seek to deport 40000 Rohingya

Supreme Court

The Centre on Monday told the Supreme Court that Rohingya Muslims are "illegal" immigrants in the country and their continued stay posed in the country "serious national security ramifications".

The BJP-led government also said that the decision was taken after a lot of consideration and that the apex court must not interfere in the matter.

Earlier, India has announced that it plans to deport an estimated 40,000 Rohingya Muslim refugees living illegally in the country.

The affidavit states that it has been "found by the Central Government that numerous Rohingyas figure in the suspected sinister designs of ISIS/other extremist groups who want to achieve their ulterior motives in India including that of flaring up communal and sectarian violence in sensitive areas of the country".

The Indian government told the court that it had intelligence data that showed links between some Rohingya Muslims and Pakistan-based terror groups and other global terror organizations. "Since India is not a party to the said Convention, or the said Protocol, the obligations contained therein are not applicable to India", the affidavit said.

It says the Rohingya can not use the 1951 Refugee Convention or the 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees since India was not a signatory to either.

The Centre filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Monday on the Rohingya matter. The Centre has responded saying that it would place all intelligence inputs before SC on October 3 to prove its claim that Rohingyas are a security threat, reportedThe Times of India.

Florida WR who caught Hail Mary has never heard of Doug Flutie
Tennessee dropped two balls that would have been touchdowns, instead settling for a single field goal on those two possessions. Tennessee was a rock fight for most of the game, but featured maybe the best finish of this young college football season.

The plea against deportations was filed by Mohammad Salimullah and Mohammad Shaqir, both of whom are registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The court had asked Mehta to state in an affidavit the Centre's stand on the issue, in response to a plea filed by two Rohingyas against deportation.

The government has recently raised "serious concern" over reports of renewed violence and attacks in Myanmar and extended its "strong" support to the Myanmarese government at this "challenging moment".

Their plea challenged the government's deportation plan on several grounds, including violation of global human rights conventions.

Thousands of Rohingyas have poured into Bangladesh - and some into India - after fleeing a military offensive in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

Highly critical of the government's plans to deport Rohingya Muslims, he said the Modi dispensation was hell bent to do so only due to their religion.
