Crew holiday backlog sees Ryanair cancel 50 flights a day until November

Ryanair cancels about 2,000 flights over six weeks

Rubbish it affects 100% of customers for the next 6 weeks worrying if their flight will be cancelled.

Ryanair has apologised and promised to rearrange or refund flights.

Ryanair will offer refunds or alternative flights to affected customers over the period, it said in a statement on Friday, adding that the cancellations, which amount to about 2 per cent of its network, won't have an impact on earnings in September and October.

In Rome, Alex Currie (26) arrived at check-in with his grandmother Mary McEvoy (69) to find their flight had been cancelled.

They say they were told that they could claim for only one night's hotel stay, even though their entitlement under European passenger-rights law is clear: the cancelling airline must book and pay for hotels, as well as meals, until the passenger can be flown home.

"Ryanair has operated at record schedule and traffic levels during the peak summer months. but has a backlog of crew leave which must be allocated before December 31st 2017. Never fly with them again", the user wrote at 7am.

Between 308,000 and 385,000 passengers could be impacted over the period, according to data compiled by Bloomberg based on the airline's passenger statistics.

After the show of hands, lawmakers stood to sing the Kurdish anthem while others raised flags to the sound of applause. The oil-rich province of Kirkuk is among the contested areas that the vote is planned to take in.

Some claimed they were left "stranded" as the replacement flights they were offered were for several days later.

Ryanair published the weekend's cancellations online but has not publicly confirmed which other flights will be axed over the next six weeks, causing angst for many customers who have booked travel with the airline.

Passengers are being advised that they will receive notification by email if their flight is affected.

"Cancellation notices for flights cancelled up to and including Wednesday September 20 have been sent to affected customers and we will continue to send regular updates and post flight information on our website", the airline said on Facebook.

'Flights are operating as scheduled unless an email confirming a cancellation has been received. "Release a list now of all the flights you plan to cancel so your paying customers can make alternative arrangements!"

Sara Lace fumed: "how do people know which flights you have cancelled? It'll be last time". Norwegian Air Shuttles communications director, Lasse Sandaker-Neilsen told Nettavisen "I can confirm that almost 140 pilots have moved from Ryanair to Norwegian so far this year, both to the new base in Dublin and other bases in Europe". You could also be entitled to compensation.
