British Airway flight takes off after 'direct threat' search

Counter-terror force units patrolling London in the aftermath of tube bombing

Passengers were evacuated from a British Airways airplane at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris on Sunday morning "for a security reason", an airport official said.

The flight BA0303 was scheduled to depart Paris' Charles De Gaulle for London Heathrow Airport at 7.25 am.

"The pilot then explained that there was a security threat specifically involving our flight, and each passenger and every piece of luggage was thoroughly searched", Anderson said. That's when we noticed police and fire vehicles quickly surround the plane and dozens of armed officers and firefighters got out.

Passeners were informed shortly before take off that a "direct threat" had been made against the aiport.

He then posted: "Everybody's been individually searched by armed officers and given all clear".

Passengers and their luggage were searched and sniffer dogs were used to investigate the aircraft.

In April, a suspected USA drone strike had killed several Taliban militants in North Waziristan close to the Afghanistan border. According to the security officials, the personnel have been deployed near the border over security concerns.

He continued: "I believe the intention is to return to the same plane assuming the search is all clear". We were waiting on the plane for around an hour.

Police and fire crews attended the scene.

'We were told they are also now searching the aircraft with dogs'.

"The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority".

Airport operator Aeroports de Paris said: "There was an incident that led authorities to decide to keep the plane on the ground and to disembark the passengers a few minutes before take-off, to carry out additional checks".

The scare came after Britain raised its terror threat level to "critical" after London Underground train bombing on Friday that left 30 people injured.
