Kyrgios: "Tomic has lost his way"

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Faces a Davis Cup debutant on Friday

Sugita beat Guilherme Clezar 6-2, 7-5, 7-6 with quiet efficiency in Osaka before Soeda nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a nail-biting 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 win over Thiago Monteiro. I obviously had a very disappointing (US Open).

"It's really made me find that love again for just being with the guys and having some fun, knowing that tennis isn't all bad, knowing that you can have some fun with it".

"We combine well together and played together at Hertogenbosch on the grass where we got to the semis but played out some tight wins".

Nick Kyrgios fired shots at fellow Australian Bernard Tomic, saying that his former Davis Cup team mate has "lost his way" and "doesn't make sense".

"As a team if you're going to win the whole thing, you need matches like this".

"It's quite a win for Nick really".

Kyrgios appears to be over the shoulder injury which short-circuited his US Open campaign, and a 3-0 head-to-head record against Belgian no.1 Goffin augurs well for the Aussie no.1. Set to face David Goffin on Day 1 and Steve Darcis on Day 3, the Australian will like his chances.

Cheered on by his home crowd, Goffin then went on to seal victory by taking the second and third sets 6-3 and 7-5 respectively.

Kyrgios continued to serve well in the decider, but Darcis managed to stay in the contest, saving multiple break points before succumbing on serve in the fourth game. But 18-year-old Denis Shapolavov prevailed 7-6 (7/2), 6-4, 6-7 (6/8), 4-6, 6-1 over Yuki Bhambri to level the tie. Goffin, ranked 12th in the world, has also been under an injury cloud since Roland Garros.

The victor of this semi-final will go on to play either Serbia or France in the Davis Cup final.

Of the four semi-finalists Serbia are the most recent champions - when Novak Djokovic inspired then to victory over France in 2010 - but they are without their three highest-ranked players, most notably Djokovic whose season is over.
