Singapore to continue hosting Formula 1 Grand Prix until 2021

Singapore will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2021 after a new four-year deal was signed.

Since its debut in 2008, the first ever night race in the F1 calendar proved to be a favorite for fans.

At the on going Singapore Grand Prix, Liberty Media boss, Chase Carey said, "India is a country that certainly has great potential and as we go forward, we will continue to study".

"While we have three night races, Singapore is the only one in the middle of the city, in the middle of the night, and it's great". In 2015, the 36-year-old did not even finish the race, but in 2014, he managed to score a solid fifth place, which is the Brazilian's best result at the Singapore Grand Prix so far in his career. Mr Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive, Singapore Tourism Board said, "The race in Singapore has provided an excellent platform for businesses to test bed new lifestyle initiatives and products".

"The first ever night race in this sport is one of the most thrilling events of the year", he added.

As per the strategic goal of holding a race in Asia at a time that suits European markets, the Singapore Grand Prix will begin at 1pm on Sunday, September 17.
