Sunday ratings delayed due to Hurricane Irma

National news: Hurricane Irma weakening but still presents a threat to life, say forecasters

Oil prices in the US early Monday rose 0.6% to $47.77 a barrel after reports said Saudi Arabia's oil minister held talks with Venezuela and Kazakhstan on a possible extension of an agreement to cut global oil supplies beyond March 2018.

Hurricane Irma weakened to a Category 1 storm early Monday as it marched up the U.S. state of Florida's northwestern coast, with its eye located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northeast of the vulnerable Tampa area.

This southwest Florida city was the second place Hurricane Irma made landfall, striking Sunday afternoon as a Category 3 storm.

The storm affected communities miles inland from Jacksonville, as strong winds blew over part of a Chevron gas station in the city of Live Oak.

As the storm loomed and came ashore, gasoline stations struggled to keep up.

In Florida and southern Georgia, more than 8 million people face hurricane-force winds topping 74 miles per hour, said Ryan Maue of WeatherBell Analytics.

Instead of following the footsteps of Hurricane Irma and ravaging islands of Antigua and Barbuda along with other Caribbean Islands, Jose followed a northerly direction sparing these region from more damage.

While Irma will not directly strike our state, it will cause some hazardous conditions in South Carolina Monday.

GBP Rallies as UK Inflation Rises More Than Expected
TUC general secretary Frances O'Grady said: "The cost of living squeeze continues, with rising inflation outpacing wages". The August inflation number is the highest since March 2017, when it was recorded at 3.89 per cent.

"These tower cranes are created to withstand winds up to 145 miles per hour, not a Category 5 Hurricane", the city said in a statement last week.

Flash flood emergency: The National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency for parts of downtown. We can hear the wind battering the door and trees outside.

In Irma's case, traveling along the west coast, Southeast Florida gets the storm's "strong side", DeMaria said.

Last month, Hurricane Harvey devastated much of coastal Texas and killed more than 70 people. And they're likely to see a large storm surge there, still these high winds, an area that, you know, hasn't - I mean, no one can prepare for a hurricane quite like that. Gov. Rick Scott requested a major disaster declaration from President Donald Trump "to help bring important federal resources and aid to Florida" once Irma passes, he said. So power outages are still possible in SC.

"What we really fear more than anything is that storm surge", Buckhorn told CNN's Anderson Cooper on Sunday.

Full restoration of power could take weeks in many areas, FPL said, due to expected damage to the company's system.

As a result, ratings may be delayed for a few days, depending on how soon the data center can reopen and staff can return to work.
