Will not go against sentiments of people: Rajnath on Art 35-A

The Home Minister said that the Government has increased the compensation for those who get killed in ceasefire violations, from Rs 1 lakh to 5 lakh

"There are no issues left that is why such issues are being raised".

Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar on Sunday on a four-day visit to the territory.

Appreciating the role of Jammu & Kashmir Police, Singh said the police personnel were a courageous and proud force working in extremely challenging circumstances in Kashmir. "Had they moved normally like passengers, we would have no problem in allowing them [to head for Delhi]", Inspector-General of Police, Kashmir, Muneer Khan said. Following Singh's assurance, former chief minister of Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Monday asked the government to file a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court favouring the constitutional provision.

Singh announced that their permanent solution to J&K problem is based on 5 Cs - Compassion, Communication, Coexistence, Confidence building and consistency.

The officials said that during the Home Minister's visit the Pakistani troops have violated the November 2003 ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards the Indian forward positions and civilian areas twice, so far, along the Line of Control in Poonch district. "Kashmir is heaven... it has been famous as heaven (on earth) and we want to make it so again for which everyone's contribution is needed".

Rare Phenomenon As Irma Literally Sucks The Water Away From The Shoreline
Hurricane Irma has been classed as the highest Category 5 storm with winds topping 195mph. As the storm draws water toward the center, it gets pulled away from the surroundings.

"A delegation of House Boat Owners Association of Kashmir and Kashmir Hotel & Restaurants Association called on the HM", the home ministry said in a tweet. "So whoever comes to meet me, I will talk to them", Mr Singh told reporters here. "We will continue to respect that", Singh said.

As talks with the Hurriyat are making no headway with ongoing National Investigation Agency (NIA) operations against separatists and their supporters, the authorities detained Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Saturday. "I'm willing to hold a dialogue with anyone", he said.

"The premiers of neighbouring countries including Pakistan were invited in oath-taking ceremony of Modi government". During the visit, Rajnath will also address the BSF jawans. "I have already said that all stakeholders are welcome and anybody ready to talk to us is welcome", he asserted.

He also reviewed the over Rs 80,000 crore Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) for J&K during a high-level meeting. "People of Kashmir will welcome you and there is no threat in the Valley", he said.
