United play more long balls than Stoke - Hughes hits back at Mourinho

Stoke manager Mark Hughes accused Jose Mourinho of sour grapes for refusing his post-match handshake after Manchester United's winning run ended in the English Premiership on Saturday night.

"It's easy to feel it that some of the players were not with the sharpness and intensity and with the decision-making", he said. "We had the lead in the second half but they scored a goal from the corner kick".

The United boss went on to say that Stoke "fought hard" for the point and they got it but he felt that his team's "performance was more than enough for the point". So I'm not disappointed with the players, I'm not critical with it, it's just a natural effect. "We want to win titles this season and I'm happy that I'm part of this great club". In the end, as he accepted, a draw was a just result.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Mourinho bemoaned Stoke's tactics as defensive - despite them becoming the first team to breach his backline this term - and claimed the match was "a game for [Marouane] Fellaini", given the willingness of United's opponents to take the aerial route. Maybe that is why he didn't want to shake my hand.

Nadal Eyes Third US Open against Anderson
He's by no means a rookie to the sport of tennis, however, and the 31-year-old player has a tremendous amount of experience. The last South African to win a major was Johan Kriek, who took the 1981 Australian Open title.

As the final whistle blew, Mourinho refused to shake Hughes' hand.

Mourinho also believed Hughes had told the referee, Neil Swarbrick, to send him to the stands for encroaching into the Stoke technical area.

After drawing with the tenth placed team, a furious Mourinho walked away without even shaking the hands of Hughes, who had reportedly told the United boss during the match to "f**k off" when Mourinho had entered his technical area during a foul. "Maybe that was what upset him".

"I don't speak about stupid things, I'm too old for that". It has to be viewed as a negative result for him.
