Ex-Georgian leader Saakashvili's train halted near Ukraine border

The ex-Georgian president Saakashvili forced the Ukraine to participate in the elections

On Sunday evening, Saakashvili and his supporters broke through a police cordon at the Shegeni checkpoint at the Polish-Ukrainian border to cross into Ukraine.

He left Georgia for Ukraine in 2015 and was appointed governor of the Odessa region by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

After having led Georgia for a decade, Saakashvili, who had been criticized for his authoritarian style and especially to the disastrous war with Russian Federation in 2008, had acquired Ukrainian citizenship in 2015, and was appointed governor of the Ukrainian region of Odessa (south). Saakashvili was outside the country when the decision was made.

After crossing the border Saakashvili thanked his supporters, saying all of them were heroes.

The comments came a day after Saakashvili forced his way past border guards into his adopted homeland with hundreds supporters in protest against the withdrawal of his Ukrainian citizenship by the government.

"A crime has been committed", Mr Poroshenko said earlier on Monday. He is an enemy of Ukraine just as he is an enemy of Georgia.

I'm not going to hang my hat on this Rams team until they can prove they can compete. "I handle everything like a pro". The pass-blocking presence of Johnson should help, as quarterback Carson Wentz was sacked nine times last season.

The crowd started to get angry with the Ukrainian border guards.

While waiting for the train together supporters and journalists, the ex-President talked with Georgian reporters about his desire to help Ukraine as well as to return to Georgia.

Police in Lvov, where Saakashvili arrived to meet with his party's supporters, have already launched criminal proceedings into the illegal crossing of the border. The Ukrainian president noted that this was not a political case, rather "this issue was within the competence of law enforcement agencies". Georgia has provided guarantees that the request is not politically motivated and Saakashvili's rights and freedoms would not be violated, the Ukrainian official added.

The president said Saakashvili should have used Ukrainian courts to challenge the revocation.

Saakashvili, who has been overseas since mid-July, refused to accept the loss of his Ukrainian citizenship, saying he would return to Ukraine to continue his political career. "We see what he did in his own country (Georgia) and that's enough for us". Georgian authorities are seeking his extradition to face a range of charges of misappropriating property and abuse of office, RFE says.

Prosecutor-General Yuri Lutsenko said late Sunday that charges would be pursued against organizers of Saakashvili's unauthorized entry. "No matter how many times he says that I am not a danger [to] him, every action of his shows exactly the opposite - that he regards me as a great and immediate danger", Saakashvili also said.
