Ernesto Valverde hails "extraordinary" hat-trick hero Lionel Messi

Ernesto Valverde banks on debutant Ousmane Dembele to make instant impact against Espanyol

Leo Messi was again the hero in the Camp Nou as he scored a hat-trick in the Barcelona derby, with Barca's remaining goals scored by Gerard Pique and a fit-again Luis Suarez, reports Xinhua news agency.

Messi then doubled the hosts advantage some 10 minutes later, as he slid-in Jordi Alba's smart cut-back.

Five-time Ballon d'Or victor was in fine form, opening the scoring in the 26th minute, following up again ten minutes later, utilising expert service from Jordi Alba, sealing his hat-trick with more than 20 minutes remaining.

The players have returned from their worldwide sojourn and the player who grabs most of the eyeballs, Lionel Messi, for one, is not happy.

The Argentine has created 8 chances for his teammates so far this season, with Barcelona now top of the league table.

Dembele has the unenviable task of replacing the departed Neymar and Barca's €105 million (S$170.7 million) man had to wait until 22 minutes from time for his debut, as he replaced Gerard Deulofeu to a standing ovation.

Ex-Georgian leader Saakashvili's train halted near Ukraine border
He left Georgia for Ukraine in 2015 and was appointed governor of the Odessa region by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The president said Saakashvili should have used Ukrainian courts to challenge the revocation.

Speaking on his new signing, Valverde said: "Dembele has been getting better every day, [but] he is a very young 20-year-old kid".

Suarez himself has a a sensational record since joining the five time European champions, and he realises that the league season is only just beginning but is also aware that each and every point could prove vital in deciding where the La Liga trophy will rest come May.

Ivan "Ivi" Lopez gave the visitors a shock lead in the 12th minute, flicking the ball into the air over Dani Carvajal as he tried to control a long throw-in and volleying into the near corner.

"We can't be happy with our performance, above all in the first half", said Real boss Zinedine Zidane.

Earlier Saturday, Atletico drew 0-0 with Valencia at Mestalla Stadium.
