Sloane Stephens reached her maiden Grand Slam finals Thursday by edging out fellow American Venus Williams in the semi-finals of the 2017 US Open. Here is the interesting news for all the American Tennis Lovers.

Sloane Stephens just won a lot of money at the US Open but her reaction is priceless

Williams was undone by errors brought about by the defensive-minded Stephens, who managed to track down balls and stretched out rallies at Arthur Ashe Stadium. It was a close fight in the third before Stephens broke Williams in the 11th game and held her serve in the 12th game to close out the match and clinch a spot in the championship match.

"I don't know how I got here, just hard work, that's it". To play her was really special.

"I obviously didn't play my best tennis today and Sloane was very supportive. I'm just happy to be in the final". In 2013, Stephens vaulted into the spotlight as a teenager when she beat Serena Williams at the Australian Open. However, Stephens did win 48 percent of her return points and gave herself 12 break chances to pull away. Madison Keys completed the clean quarterfinal sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Kaia Kanepi on Wednesday.

Williams's level lifted as she stormed through the second set, her power helping her level the match. Andy Roddick, at the 2003 US Open, was the last American male to win a Grand Slam. With her younger sister Serena out of the tournament and giving birth to a girl last Friday, Venus Williams was also looking for her first Grand Slam title since 2008.

"For me, it's about putting myself in the position all the time to get the titles, and that's exactly what I did", said Williams.

"At some point, I thought she might start running a little colder than what she was doing", Vandeweghe said after the loss.
